Terminator Salvation

Terminator Salvation

Out of the 3 summer blockbusters so far – Star Trek, X-Men Origins: Wolverine and this film, Terminator Salvation is my favorite. Well written (which is the primary thing the other films suffer from), well directed (McG does a great job here) and well acted, the film has the whole package. My only problem is with the ending, but I’ll come back to that…

Visually, the effects are stunning, some of ILM’s best work. There wasn’t any moment that I wasn’t there. The visual style that McG goes for here helps to keep everything well blended and seemless. The action sequences are especially engaging and keep you nailed down in your seat to see how everything plays out. Included are many of the major enemy components of the previous films such as the HKs (Hunter-Killers) as well as some new editions to the SkyNet arsenal.

The writing is well done with most of the timeline in this round taking place in the future rather than just seeing glimpses of it. By the way, this film is basically supposed to pick up where the 2nd film left off completely ignoring the 3rd film (thank God, that one was pretty unwatchable).
